Balance your nervous system – 5 week course

You might have heard of the sympathetic nervous system, or the fight and flight mode as it often is called. Do you know of its functions for the body?

And more importantly – do you know how to regulate it, to get a good balance between the sympathetic and the parasympathetic nervous system, also known as the rest and digest mode?

In this course the aim is to help your body relax, release tension and blockages to liberate blood- and energy flow, as well as balance the nervous system. With the intention to boost the body’s amazing ability for cleansing and self-healing. The practice will combine gentle physical movements with breath to promote relaxation, improve body awareness and enhance overall well-being.

Rut-Malin Barklund is trained in both Therapeutic Kundalini and Vinyasa Krama. She took the 250hr Vinyasa Krama teacher training at Yoga Folks in and the Therapeutic Kundalini at Yoga Mana as part of their extensive Yoga Therapy training.

With the foundation in Therapeutic Kundalini Rut-Malin will guide you through a series of asanas that are most often performed seated on the floor. Prepare yourself for conscious breathing, synchronized with slow movements, as well as various mediations. In the calm soft, and at times static asanas you may also find challenges, both mentally and physically. It is simple and yet at the same time also very powerful.

Breathing is crucial to all forms of yoga. During these 5 weeks, we will put extra focus on a long deep slow breathing technique. We will combine our breath with mantras, to get a deeper focus and concentration in the asanas. There will also be short theoretical parts in the beginning of some of the sessions.

What to expect from the course:

• Understanding of, and tools for, how to balance your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.
• Basic knowledge of the importance of breathing in connection with other functions of the body.
• Awareness of the vagus nerve, and how to improve its activation.
• Exercises and meditations that you can easily do on your own after the course.

During this spring, Rut-Malin deepens her education with the 300hr Advanced Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga Folks. When she’s is not doing yoga, she loves to cook nutritious food and puts her hands on a bunch of creative projects.
