*This course is continued education for yoga teachers and part of our 300 hr advanced training. To read more about the full program click here!

Pause for a moment and feel the power of a single breath. This module dives deep into the transformative art of conscious breathing. From the mechanics of respiration, the history and evolution of breathing, to classical pranayama and modern breathwork, we’ll explore how breath shapes the body, mind, and spirit.

You’ll master a variety of breathing techniques, uncover the anatomy behind the magic, and even take your first steps into Sanskrit, connecting to yoga’s roots. By the end, you’ll be ready to teach pranayama classes, design programs for your students, and deepen your own sadhana.

Step into this journey and let your breath become your greatest teacher.

HERE’S WHAT’S ON THE SCHEDULE:

  • Pranayama Sadhana: Two daily practices and a 21-day pre-training routine to prepare.
  • History and evolution of breathing: Going back to see how our ancestors breathed to why we breathe the way we do today, and how we actually should breathe.
  • Respiratory Physiology: Explore how breath impacts everything from your nervous system to digestion with Petra Kalla.
  • Sanskrit Basics: Learn pronunciation, vowels, and grammar to honor this sacred language in your yoga journey.
  • Breathwork: Viktor Westerlund will guide you through breathwork techniques, retention, capacity, and the distinctions between styles.

About the teachers

Josephin Westerlund – Lead teacher

Josephin is one of the founders of Yoga Folks and has been teaching classes, workshops and facilitating trainings for the past few years in Stockholm and London.

With a dedication of giving her students the best experience possibly she teaches with a large dose of knowledge and humor.

Josephin has over 1500 hours of training (Vinyasa Krama, Bhakti Yoga, Restorative yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, PT, Hands on assist, Sequencing, Yin yoga, Womans therapy and Yoga Nidra) and 9 years of facilitating/teaching.

Viktor Westerlund – Breathwork Facilitator & Yoga Teacher

Viktor’s first relationship with the breath was through singing – he spent his youth singing and playing in bands, discovering the artistry of sound, breath, and vibration. He still sings, but has taken his experience and study of the breath far beyond it. Viktor will bring this wealth of experience to his introduction to breathwork, what makes it so powerful, and how it differs from pranayama.

Lisa Åkesson – Sound Healing & Voice Work

Lisa thought she peaked in movement at age 14 when she was the best in Sweden at orienteering. But then yoga and Ayurveda came into her life while living abroad in London in 2013, and it’s been a constant in her life ever since. Since then, she has expanded her knowledge through training all over the world. Over time, music, sound, and voice became bigger parts of her offerings, and they are now integral parts of her teaching to support her students to come as they are and be unafraid to take up space through sound and vibration.
