Karma Yoga is the path of service through selfless action for the good of others – for example Mother Teresa’s serving poor people to connect with humanity, or refill toilet paper at your yoga studio 😉 Karma yoga brings yourself into society; it makes you step up to stepping in.
Introduce the concept of karma yoga at the beginning of your class
That could be by explaining what Karma Yoga is – selfless service without attachment to the outcome and relating it to the practice. Can you invite your students to not be attached to the outcome of the class?
Set an intention
You can begin the class with inviting students to dedicate their practice to someone else, or a cause that is larger than themselves. This can create a sense of service and selflessness.
Offer a community-based karma yoga class
As a teacher, embodying the practice of Karma Yoga by organizing a charity class for a greater cause as a yoga teacher is very much an act of selfless actions.
You can integrate Krama yoga into daily life through small, intentional moments:
- Cultivate a mindset of giving – without attachment to the results
- Look for small ways to help people – throughout your day, such as holding the door for someone
- Devote some of your time to community service or a cause you care about – this can for example be doing Karma work at your yoga studio, or help out in serving food in a shelter, to hand out flyers for important causes.
