What are OSHO Meditations, and why do they work?

What are OSHO Meditations really about?

Some say there are 112 Osho meditations, so giving a full introduction isn’t easy.

Most people are familiar with his active meditations, which you can think of as meditation reimagined for modern life. They’re designed to meet today’s busy, restless minds starting with movement, expression, and release before dropping into silence.

Osho believed that before we can sit in stillness, we need to move. Wildly, honestly, fully.

Why? Because silence isn’t something we force. It’s something we find. Once we’ve shaken off the stress, noise, and tension that modern life builds up.

Let’s look at some popular OSHO Active meditations and explore why they work.

OSHO Dynamic Meditation ®

A 5-part meditation. A powerful, fast-paced practice designed to break through old patterns in body and mind. Through intense breathing, movement, and release, you clear out what needs to be cleared, making space for clarity, freedom, and presence.

Best done in the early morning, when the world (and the mind) is still waking up. Eyes stay closed throughout this 1-hour practice. Special music is being used.

OSHO Nadabrahma Meditation ®

A 3-part meditation using humming and gentle hand movements to bring your whole system into harmony. As body and mind sync, you naturally step into the role of the witness, calm, silent, at ease. Eyes stay closed throughout this 1-hour practice. Special music is being used.

OSHO Kundalini Meditation ®

A 4-part meditation best practiced at sunset.

You begin by shaking and dancing to release blocked energy and tension. This opens the body and frees the flow of energy into joy, into movement. The final stages guide that energy upward, into stillness and silence. A powerful way to unwind and reset at the end of the day. Special music is being used.

Why it work

Most of us are too tense or wired to sit still right away.
Active OSHO meditations start with movement: shaking, breathing, dancing, to help release stress and reset the nervous system.

You move first, then the silence comes naturally.
No forcing. No fighting the mind. Just finding your way in, through the body.
